Magazine Types and Their Niches


Just like with movies, books, or TV, magazines are often grouped into types. And each type can be broken down into even more specific niches.


1. Fashion Magazines


Main type: Fashion

Niches:

High Fashion – All about designer clothes, fancy brands, and what's on the runway (like Vogue).

Teen Fashion – Made for teens, with trends that are easy to afford and what's hot in pop culture (like Seventeen).

Men’s Fashion – Style tips, grooming advice, and lifestyle stuff for guys (like GQ).


2. Lifestyle Magazines


Main type: Lifestyle

Niches:

Home and Garden – Covers decorating, gardening, and fixing up your house (like Good Housekeeping).

Health and Wellness – All about taking care of yourself, both mentally and physically, plus fitness and eating right (like Women’s Health).

Travel – Where to go, how to get there, and cool stuff about different cultures (like National Geographic Traveler).


3. Celebrity and Gossip Magazines


Main type: Celebrity / Entertainment

Niches:

Gossip – All the rumors, scandals, and private lives of famous people (like Heat, Closer).
